The Marlin deposit was discovered in December 1998 in Western Guatemala.
\nThe discovery was the result of a grass roots exploration program focused on the
\nvolcanic terrains of the Western Sierra Madre, then a non explored region.
\nThe deposit is located in a regional corridor of hydrothermal alteration zones
\nassociated with regional strike slip faulting systems, which are part of the transformant
\nfaults that extend from the Caribbean Ocean across Guatemala and Chiapas,
\nMexico and intersect the Cocos Plate subduction zone in the Pacific Ocean. This tectonic
\nsuture zone is the boundary between the North American Plate and the
\nCaribbean plate and defines the Mayan block to the north and the Chorties block to
\nthe south.
\nMarlin is a structurally controlled volcanic hosted Au-Ag low sulfidation epithermal
\ndeposit, with resources of more than five million ounces gold-equivalent. It will be
\nin production in 2006.
\nPrecious metals epithermal mineralization is hosted within faults affecting Tertiary
\nandesitic rocks and bedded volcano.sedimentary rocks. The ore consists of multistage
\nquartz breccia veins and stockworks related to broad argillized zones in surface
\noutcrops but propylitized at depth. Geochemistry of the deposit is very simple: a goldsilver
\nratio of 1:10 and no associated base metals or other elements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":4760,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"pmpro_default_level":""},"product_cat":[154],"product_tag":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.gsnv.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product\/2401"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.gsnv.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.gsnv.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/product"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.gsnv.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2401"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.gsnv.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/4760"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.gsnv.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2401"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.gsnv.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_cat?post=2401"},{"taxonomy":"product_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.gsnv.org\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_tag?post=2401"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
